Hello!

Owner of Everyday Modern Quilts

I’m Kourtney and I love quilts!

Well, honestly, I love art and all things crafty.

I bought my first sewing machine back in 2002 as a high school graduation gift to myself. I made a variety of little things with it, zip pouches, key fobs, tote bags. I used all sorts of materials and I especially enjoyed using repurposed and recycled materials.

When my two boys were little, I learned to make clothes for them: hats, shorts and shirts, etc. When my husband got rid of shirt or pair of shorts, I would chop it up and make cute tiny things for them to wear!

As they got bigger, I shifted into a small venture of craft shows making useful items with lots of color, print and pattern. I was a one woman show and it was a lot of work. After the pandemic hit in 2020, I had a lot of free time and needed something positive to focus on. That’s when I really started making quilts!

The first year of my quilting adventure I had a goal of making 12 quilts, one per month. I didn’t quite make my goal but after that first year I knew I was a quilter at heart! I was making quilts of all shapes, sizes and colors. I loved the challenge of learning a new skill or technique with each new pattern I chose. I was hooked! It’s my creative outlet.

I was quilting them all myself on my domestic sewing machine and borrowing or renting longarm time whenever I got the chance. I knew this was something I had a true passion for and set out to buy my very own longarm quilt machine. I wanted to start my own longarm quilting business. I love helping others turn those quilt tops into usable quilts to be loved!

Feel free to send me a message anytime, just to say hi, or with comments or questions.
