let talk about binding

this is probably the quilting topic i get asked the most, How do I get my binding to look like your? There is nothing better than getting back a freshly longarmed quilt and being excited to add the final finishing touch, binding. I want to make you feel excited to do it!

And most people dont really like my answer: Practice! You just have to do it. Practice is the magic answer.

Over the last 10 years of my quilting journey, I have bound a lot of quilts. Ive had to learn how to get good results binding quilts using all diffferent methods. I have looked over quilts that I see in person, watched a lot of YouTube videos and read threough countless tutorials from quilter who I admire. I swear that I learn something new with each and ever quilt i bind. something goes a little smoother. or i figure out that a step ist reall that important an i adjust how I do it.

I have a few simple tools to make the process easier on myself and i think it reall make a diference

I love the binding step because as much as i love quilting, it isnt a very portable creative hobby. im not especcial fond of epp or hand stitching blocks so the binding step is very portable. I look forward to a rainy day of camping where i can hand bind half of of a quilt.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
